Crystal Stafford hails from Jacksonville, Florida and has been involved in music her entire life, whether it be dance, classical piano, writing songs on her guitar or, as of late, making electronic music. She has a background that stretches from coast to coast, and a sound that wraps the world in its arms. She has split the majority of her life between the east and west - from Florida to studying marine biology and environmental studies in Hawaii to yoga training in Los Angelas to Atlanta, GA where she is currently living, creating and loving.
Her influences are as broad as the trail she has blazed from coast to coast. From Bob Marley to Patty Griffin to Portishead and Lamb. She has visioned making music that combined all of the aspects of herself, into one sound. Her first album, In Through the Wires was a singer/songwriter folk inspired rock album produced alongside Jon Farmer, who spent three months writing the drum tracks to go with the songs. These amazing drums coupled with contemplative lyrics and a view of the world that inspires hope make this album a work of art.
However, it wasn't until her second album, See Again, that her broad range of musical influence was fully expressed. Meeting Phil Green and Scott Petersen of PC Synergy (in a yoga class of all places) was a crucial part of this vision becoming reality. See Again is an electronically based album produced by Phil Green that encompasses all of the musical elements that Crystal has come to love over the years. The album incorporates melodic jazz piano riffs, crunchy electric guitar, deep house bass, and electronic beats ranging from slow and steady to straight up dance. The songs take you on a trip through the clouds and into the sea, to warm throws of secret love, through dark tunnels and towards the light, and all the while the listener is caressed by Crystal's soultry, soulful voice which is like egyptian cotton bedsheets on the skin. Her whispers lulling you into a dream like state.
It is apparent through her music that she is a passionate person that believes in a better world, and through her music, she will make a believer out of you.
